Breaking news update: Feb 10 – Due to a surprise family event Melissa can’t make it on Saturday as planned – she/ & we apologise. In her place we have Gwen Walton-Wegener of Minimonos project giving her insights.

Special bonus is that we have @Vaughn Davis from tweet this book the Goat Farm (and previously Y &R) giving a lightening talk how he got 13,500 downloads of his book in less than 2 months.

Melsissa thinks, blogs and speaks about how to grow technology businesses.

Melissa has been CEO of two IT companies, and now leads the largest On-line Games company in NZ – MiniMonos.com. It has almost 100,000 registered users and is a virtual world for good green kids. Their kids blog has almost 3000 daily readers. MiniMonos has over 50 fan sites involving 100+ kid bloggers.

Melissa will be presenting Kidsplay – Monkey Blogs. Blogging with, for, by kids. Who is doing it? What’s it good for? Why do it? How do you make it work? Melissa will present the latest in research around kids & blogging, plus give her top tips for blogging with kids, helping them to blog, and creating kid friendly blogging material.

Many WordCampNZ attendees are thought leaders in their own respective fields. We thought it would be great to talk around trends, changes and impacts of WordPress and blogging going forward.

This year we have a super panel discussion planned with Lance Wiggs and Richard MacManus as special guests. Julie Starr and John Ford will also be on the panel.

Richard is well known as founder of Read Write Web where he is widely recognized as a leader in articulating what’s next in technology and what it means for society at large.

Lance is best known in NZ for his role as Head of Group Digital at Fairfax Media NZ in 2007 New Zealand’s largest media company and before that as sole adviser to CEO Sam Morgan and Board Chair Richard Abbott on Trade Me’s sale to Fairfax Media for NZ $750m.

WordPress itself has in many ways been a game changer, firstly with bloggers and now as a content platform and framework. We know that like Lance and Richard many of you are game changers working at the edges of media and redefining your specialist areas.

Where does blogging, community engagement and media all meet?

What are the smart trends in this space?

How does mobile and gaming fit in with blogging and social media?

How is your life and business being impacted by new ways of communicating with friends, strangers, customers, partners and suppliers?

What are your questions?

We invite you to write in some questions for the panel in the comment stream below.

Does blogging have a future ?
