We could have used an academic lecture theatre but lets face it no one ever goes to a uni (in NZ anyway) for the food or the coffee and those lectures theatres can get a bit stale and isolated so High St it is.

So we were delighted when the new Johnny Wray’s Coffee kiosk opened on the square. The coffee is roasted by the top team at Karajoz led by Derek Townsend and so we will have special wordcampnz coffee deals on the day at Johnny Wray’s.

There are other coffee places nearby on High St, Vulcan Lane and Chancery Square but we think this one has the best roast.  Also plenty of great food around the square such as Wishbone in Vulcan Lane.

After we finish on Saturday we have booked space at Cassette 9 from 6-9pm and all wordcampnz attendees are invited to that. Cassette 9 is legendary for pizzas, the “sick disco” and other music. Upstairs on Vulcan Lane is easy to find. See you on Sat 21st of April.

You will need your WordCampNZ id as it is a private function and we will start straight after the last sessions on Saturday.

Food will be available so make a night of it and meet other bloggers, WordPress users and generally interesting fellow attendees on the night. Add this session to your diary now.

It will be a cash bar as most sponsors don’t have a #party code in their accounting systems. And yes we will be running some workshops on Sunday..

For most conferences it is the informal hanging out before and after official events that is often the most fun.

The idea is to pick a venue that is not too formal, has a price  range that is easy on the pocket and close enough to the venue so that transport is not an issue.

Located 8 Cambridge Terrace And 17-19 Blair Street, Wellington and about 10 mins walk from the Bowling Club venue.

A bonus would be if they have function rooms that can be private if needed and can accommodate anything from 40 to 100 people.( Note: We have a whole floor booked for wordcamp.)

If it has everyone’s favourite drink and some different menus that is also a double bonus.

Non-conference partners and friends are welcome.

The plan would be to wander down by 6 pm ish (or earlier) for a few drinks and stay longer to have some bar food or a meal. Kitchens usually like to plan ahead a bit so we will ask you to give us an idea of menu items and rough numbers.
